Town of Arnprior – Waterfront Feasibility & Options Study

September 2016 –  October 2017

The Town of Arnprior commissioned an analysis to identify ways of enhancing a very valuable local asset – the shores of the Madawaska and Ottawa rivers. Momentum was the lead consulting firm and project managed Arnprior’s Waterfront Feasibility Issues and Options Analysis. Our Team’s initial observations of existing conditions revealed an interesting and dynamic waterfront. However over time and growing use, today it is in strategic need of improvements in particular areas.

Public input was sought in the first phase of the Study and several residents participated in drop-in events and filled out surveys online and in person,  expressing their views and ideas. Phase 2 of the Study used what we heard during Phase 1 to create a proposed plan of action staged over a number of years.

Momentum’s final report to Town Council was extremely well received. The Study provides guidance to the Town in capitalizing on the true potential of the waterfront to better serve the existing and future residents along with the very important visitor population of Arnprior on a year-round basis.

The Study now complete, the Town of Arnprior has a solid understanding of the best mix of viable land uses and activities supported by the residents, visitors and the marketplace; the nature and scope of investments required by the public and/or public sectors; and finally, a strategic direction and action plan to ensure successful next steps.
